How can I add a wireless router to an enterprise system posed a security risk for the company?
I work in a department. in my office does not receive from companies in the wireless signal. I installed a router to boost the signal in my office. They have now accused me of "weaken their safety and want to re-arrest me in writing. I have not done anything wrong and are only installed to improve my productivity while @ work.
As a professional and a user's personal - you can relate to where they are coming. One the one hand, it is annoying not being able to obtain the freedom of a wireless signal. However, the reason you are not allowed to randomly add devices (routers, switches, etc.) is due to the ease of an external user, possibly malicious user to intercept data. Leaving aside the technical question (the real self is a career and make good money), an encrypted signal (without a password) may be picked up by someone and public, shared folders are accessible organization. From this information, an attacker can easily you can access information more deeper, more sensitive, either through manipulation of the user (saying they are new hires from the IT department and ask for your password) or by cracking techniques more complex. I doubt that you possess the necessary knowledge to protect your wireless network properly, or at least to the standards of the company, is why you receive in writing and no offense, but are lucky enough to not get fired. Even if you put a key in place, it is still very easy to break it. There are many reasons why they get into trouble adding an unauthorized wireless router to your company network, but the above was the most basic and common of reason. Honestly, be thankful that your getting a written warning and not fired, in most companies as something that is a crime of arson may be, without questions.
