How should I set my Guitar Amp to get that 50's rockabilly sound?
I have a VOX amplifier with gain, volume, volume, treble, midrange and bass settings and digital effects like delay and reverb. And you can choose the Guitar Neck or bridge pickups or blend of the two.
Here are some thoughts. First, in the '50s, "distortion" was a no-no. So, wants a "clean" sound by having a relatively low "pre" or "gain" adjustment. Then you get the volume by turning the master volume. Then the sound should not be excessively bright, so I would say that his treble knob at medium altitude. Turn your command means perhaps a bit beyond the average, as in 1 or 2 o'clock. Then, turn up even under him the whole way. With regard to your pills, you probably want to be on the Neck Pickup or maybe mix the two. The next thing is to get the slap echo effect through its delay. Try a fast enough echo the establishment of 100ms or so, and experiment with increasing or decreasing the time delay until the sitting. I just want to take a slap regeneration Down Low (if this option is offered). Then, the intensity should be in the middle, so you can hear the echo, but not dominant. This must reach closure. The thing to remember is that the guitars, amps and effects are very different in the 1950s. The classical guitars "rockabilly" are as large as Archtops Gretch and Gibson. These guitars have a particular sound that is not easy to duplicate with a guitar modern Solid Body with pills. amplifiers were much simpler and usually do not have a gain and master volume - which was later invented by Jim Marshall (I) for rock music. The amplifiers of a softer tone that we have tried to duplicate the tone settings. Then, finally, the echo effect of "slap" was done with Tape Echo as digital effects were still decades away. However, when experimenting with your amp and the settings I've shown above, you should be able to enter the stadium.
