Infants

Over-stimulation

Imagine being in a traffic jam. You have a throbbing headache, and is surrounded by rap music hits, horns and screeching brakes. Now added in the glare of the sun gleaming off the car in front of you, and you have sensory overload. This is how your baby feels when over-stimulated. Many sounds too strong or too much visual stimulation can cause your poor little brain reel.

Sights and Sounds

Your baby love the sound of his voice, and some studies even suggest that recognizes your voice at birth! Try to use a calm and reassuring tone to it. Avoid sudden, loud noises. Singing with him. Even if you do not have the pipes of American Idol, your baby will love.

There are toys on the market that are designed for stimulation infant visual. Several years ago, researchers found that children had a much easier time discerning the black, white and red. However, there mobile and playmates in those colors that can help your baby's visual development.

Mirrors are also great for visual stimulation. Do not break crib mirrors are available, and some even have soft music and flashing lights.

Touch

Some babies they like to be touched more than others. Let your baby on a blanket spread on the floor. Strip your clothes and allow him to take the air. Some soft infant massage can help relieve stress, too. Again, avoid over-stimulation. The thing about a cousin to another all night can contribute to overload.

There are plenty of toys on the market that promote sensory development for children through touch. Stuffed toys with different surfaces can be considered, stroked and bit.

Young children are suckers for a good song, teaching them simple songs, especially with accompanying movements, is a great way to promote sensory development. Children two years and even slightly younger children begin to learn pitch during this time. The ability to hear and play specific sounds (words, rhyme and tone) is greater when you sing Itsy, Bitsy Spider.

Odors

Mmmmm ... are the cookies I smell? Wait! What is the smell of the den? Daddy should peel an orange. Help your child develop his olfactory system, saying every day odors. Play games guess. Take a walk through of the neighborhood to find some interesting smells.

The feel and texture

Toddlers and preschoolers will love to get their hands dirty. Stop digging in lots of different textures, and be creative. There's the old standby: the sand (dry and wet). But try to sift through of some other substances: cornmeal, oatmeal, pasta, gravel. Beyond Tupperware containers and let the pan, pour and form.

What is?

Take turns blindfolding each other and surrender the person blindfolded an object to the smell, taste or touch. He has to identify without spying! This game can be played for hours ... and hours on a rainy day.

Where are we?

Another fun game play with young children. Blindfolded, then collect them and sit them down on a different surface. Hmmmm .... bitter, sweet, grassy. Must be in the backyard. Cold, hard, smooth surface. The tile in the bathroom? Carpet in the room with mom definitely smells different than the carpet in the room teenage brother!

Help your child make the most of exploring the world around him. As we encourage active play and exploration, will be the development sensory skills.
