I double or single coil?
I have a kicker amp and zx300.1'm gunna get a 12 inch sub. would be better to get a DVC or single? as I hear dual is the way forward. recommend you consider the single voice coil sub is cheaper .... thanks!
The decisive factor _ONLY_ much substance between DVC and SVC is any cable that allows the amplifier to the way you want. Sometimes there are small differences in T / S between the equivalent parameters SVC and DVC subs but it's incidental, not by design. sensitivity is not directly related to SVC vs DVC. DVC is not better than SVC hands down. You _must_ use both coils voice when using a DVC speaker. If you are a DVC 4ohm then their are the options 2ohm configuration (parallel) or 8ohm configurations (series). You may not use as one speaker a 4ohm DVC 4ohm. If you want the sub to be a certain element ... and do not anticipate ever needing to be used as a load different ... then also could purchase the appropriate VCS. DVC is for wiring options ... only. In addition, to begin my opinion ... Do not wire speakers in series ... and if you can avoid the failure to achieve a situation in which the voice coil wire in series. Series = long way = more signal induced by noise. For your situation ... want a load of 2 ohms ... and from SVC 2 ohm speakers are not as common ... I recommend getting a speaker 4ohm DVC, wire voice coils in parallel and have a load of 2ohm.
