Ovation guitars are good?
I am looking for an acoustic / electric, and I really like the look of those ovations. Are they a good guitar in the 200-300 dollar range?
Its top-of-the-line guitars have a good reputation, but do not know about the cheaper models that do - I've never played one of the Cheapies - and those who sell at the top of your price range - $ 300 or more. IMO, the best sound OK Cheers played acoustically (not connected to an amplifier), but nowhere near as good as a good Martin, Gibson, Guild or Taylor Acoustic. Its main strength is its ability to give Good Acoustic signal, when connected to an amplifier. Personally, I'm not a fan of his appearance - but I'm more of a traditional folkie, with little or no need to plug in - I prefer the layout most traditional of a Martin, Guild, or Gibson. But YMMV. You really need to go to a music store and test them to ensure that, as the sound and playability before buying. I would never buy a guitar from a website myself. While you're at the music store to try Cheers, try a few other brands too. You need to find a guitar whose sound really love, it is going to be hearing a lot in the coming years as we learn how to play!
