Mockingbird Special

Mockingbird Special

Do I need special permission to publish a different opinion on an existing workbook?

I want to write a modern take more in the book To Kill a Mockingbird. I do not think I really am old enough to deal with any copyright and permissions issues that may arise. I need permission from the original publisher who published this book? What I had expected is that the main character is reading To Kill a Mockingbird, and compares the events that happen in your life to what is happening in the book. In this way, I do not think it's really a fanfic, and based on the plot exactly, since the book itself plays a role in history.

You can write a story that is similar to To Kill a Mockingbird, but can not do anything with the original text without permission. Just a side note. There is no way that people will allow the modernization of the story. I doubt anyone will ever make any changes to the story because it's great the way it is. If something changes in that story, people get annoyed because it means so much to so many people. That is, hands down, one of my favorite books of all time.

Ranked 34 on the American Film Institute's list of the 100 Greatest American Films, To Kill a Mockingbird is quite simply one of the finest family-oriented dramas ever made.
