What string gauges are considered medium to Light Acoustic strings?
I've been looking around trying to find what I owe on the chains, but at some sites say that light chains are .010, but others say they are .012. Also, what brand of chain you recommend? (I'm looking for something under $ 10)
The exact indicators vary from manufacturer to manufacturer string chain. For many brands, the light is 12 to 53 and medium term is 13 to 56, but you can see a 1 or variation of 2 points in some other brands. I use and recommend Elixir Light Gauge strings nanoweb although that is outside your price range. Are fantastic strings that last a long time, never fade, and completely eliminate the finger Squeak. Believe me, it's worth the money.
