My brother has a guitar tuner that can Barrow is likely to sharpen the mandolin too?
To some extent, yes. A mandolin tuning is different in some respects to a guitar. But the notes (G, D, A and E), are all in a guitar - but the octaves are different. Chromatic Tuners Majority recognize a G and G, regardless of what is eighth. A at 440 Hz still be registered as a 880 or 220 Hz in most of the tuners. I suggest give it a shot. You'll know immediately if it works. Just remember that some of the settings options are not relevant to you - just adjust the 4th string you need, from the closest to the ceiling (if you're Right Handed) where G, followed downwards by D, A, and then E. Ignore the other notes on the tuner.
