Is it typical to have to replace the pulse generator input / output speed sensor more than once in a Hyundai?
Last year 6/8/08 at Hyundai dealer replaced my input / output speed sensor on a Hyundai Accent 2001. I read that this brand and model has a problem with these ... but today I was surprised to discover that my mechanic replaced the same part not even a year later. He said it was very corroded. Why is this? "These pieces really bad that quickly?
The pulse generator is an external corrosion is not unheard of, especially if you live in the northern states and the salt is used on roads in winter or the engine is wet for long periods of time. The Accent, Excel, and older SCOUPE Elantras Hyundai are the only products that use a pulse generator. All other models have a separate entrance / exit sensors. However, the part is warranted for 1 year for Hyundai, the date of installation. You should not have to pay for the repair again if it was less than a year - parts and labor had been under warranty.
