Google Chrome and viruses?

a month ago I downloaded Google Chrome and have been using to navigate. Also downloaded the free trial Tune Up Utilities and I could not believe how fast my computer was working, it was all a click away (as it should). Tune Up Utilities BUT overcame and think I have a virus. My Symantec antivirus cannot find it. But my computer is sooooooo slow again. Every time I open Internet Explorer closes itself after a few seconds. But for some reason, Google Chrome is still Kickin it! Not so fast, but his work better than Internet Explorer. Can someone explain this? I know I've downloaded Utorrent virus (not a movie file on my computer will not let me delete, lame.
